Jeff was taught Classical piano from ages 7 to 15 years, but wasn’t until he was 14 that a family relative started to show him who to play folk acoustic guitar. In fact Jeff’s most prominent musical influence comes from his piano tutor and early hero Mr Adrian Vivian May, who introduced him to a multitude of styles and rhythms, as well as opening his mind to the world of classical piano. He was also the first person to discover Jeff’s ‘voice’ and always encouraged him to sing during every lesson... he’s got a lot to answer for now!
As a teenager, Jeff started playing Keyboards and singing backing in an 8 piece original
Soul band from 1976 to 1979. In 1980 he went on to be the Front man in a classic
blues band up until 1983. There then followed an 18 year hiatus before he returned
to do the Blues band Front man thing again in 2001, but by the end of 2003 he decided
to go off travelling around the world for a few years. It was 2008 before he formed
and led a folk/rock/blues band as the main Singer / songwriter and guitarist. By
2012 he was again looking to do something different musically, and after several
jam sessions with Sack and Vinny, became co-
Musically, Jeff Listens to just about everything, from Mozart to Metallica, but mostly prefers the classics these days. His favourite bands include AC/DC, Black Crows, Train, Ink Spots and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jeff sites his biggest influences as “Every great singer songwriter I've ever listened to including people such as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Carole King and Patrick Monahan”.
